Photography Resolution: High versus Low

This is a thing about marketing and photography that people get mixed up and I would like to take this opportunity to clear up the confusion now. Your logo or your photo that you intend to use not only printed but on the web as well right, what resolution do most people ask for it in? High Res of course. But High Res is not always the right answer. The correct answer is: It Depends. Everyone's favorite answer right?
Old, Journey, Adventure, Photo, Map, Retro, Antique
Let's talk when you need High Res:

The biggest reason you would request High Resolution is because you are intending on printing your logo or photo itself or on something. Printers, and similar devices, are very rough with data as they are processing it and printing it-and if your logo or photo is low resolution, it will not print very well. Higher Resolution photos are heavier files than their lower resolution counterparts.

Let's talk when you need Low Res:

The other leg your  logo or photo has is online. Such as your website, social media, etc. This is the time you use your lower resolution version, as any general webpage or social media site has a lot to bring up-and most people complain when their pages take a long time to load up. To assist in the page loading up fast, you would use low resolution versions for logos and images so that it loads quickly. A heavier bigger file takes longer to load.

What is the most ideal solution?

The best way to not only keep your content fresh, and to use the right size file where it is appropriate is to have the art file on hand with your marketer and to have them produce for a low resolution and high resolution version of your logo/photo. Also keep an eye on it, as the file gets worn down-replace it with a newer file.

Stay tuned as we dive into a way to think about all your  marketing in a way that gives it proper thought!
