Marketing as an Employee: Cover Letter
If you don't have a job, any time is a great time to get a job. Unemployment in Orange County (at the time this blog was written) are at some all time lows. But otherwise, historically- as we head into the holiday season, most places that employ people ramp up hiring. Let's get you prepared to get that job! For example purposes, we will be helping "Randy Savage" with is employment documentation.
An important part, and easily overlooked part of the process is the cover letter. Even if a company does not ask for it, it is never a bad idea to send on. Higher paying positions almost always demand one as part of the application process. Now, the way I am going to explain all the necessary documents is with condition/option that all three of these documents is actually one document, but can be separated as needed.
Elements of your cover letter:
Header: For the header, you will need the following information-
Name, Phone Number, (professional) Email Address (hyperlink this), Address.
If you put this as your header, it will appear on all your documents
Now a cover letter is basically a letter so have the following:
Date: that the letter is being written or sent
Name: Name of the person whom this is going to.
Title: Their title.
Company: The company's name.
Address: The physical location of the company.
Dear Name,
My name is NAME and I am interested in applying for the POSITION at COMPANY. Basic Summary of You.
What skills do I bring to the team? Basic Description of your skills.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you in person and discuss the contributions I could make to your company. Should you wish to reach me beforehand, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 1(234)567-8910.
