Going Live: Facebook/Instagram
Great photos lead to great videos, both will be very important to incorporate into your marketing plan as things change towards videos. One of my favorite ways to get content for videos is to go live, have the video sit on your feed and once created use that video on other sites-or even add an intro and outro. We are going to review Facebook/Instagram, Twitter, and lastly LinkedIn over the next three weeks.
This week will be Facebook/Instagram, even though they are two different experiences-they are owned by the same company and therefore I felt it should be in the same blog:
Facebook:
Facebook is the first one that comes to mind when you say someone is live, yet they were not the first ones to come up with it-nor are they the only ones to do it. Say you wanted to go live on Facebook, once you get onto the site from either computer or mobile device-it is one of your first options to do right in the area you would share an update. You can customize your audience, maybe this is a video for your family and not your coworkers. Once you start setting up to go live, it shows you who is online-who may start watching or interacting. It is very important, and you can do it before or after-but put a title and description! Once your set up, you go live and hope your video keeps up with you.
You can do either the front or back camera, and recently added are fun features like lip sync live or draw it. Going live can be done from a personal page or a business page, and quality is usually ok with a high likelihood of your video occasionally going out on you, but coming right back. In an average feed, you will see a lot of videos, but not many of them live.
Instagram:
For IG, you only have an app to use this social media site. Once on the app, it is actually a little tough to find it but once you eliminate all your options and look in the left hand corner you find your option. Similar to it's now parent company, you can do either the front or back camera and get a preview of who in your friends list is online at that time. If you slide, you see options for your post or video like animal filters, space filters, scenic filters. The quality is ok, but not great with a good chance your video may go out on your for a second. There is very little live videos, and when I do see them they are more recreational.
Funny enough, even though I planned to do these in a specific order, after I did my research for these blogs- I gave them a rank of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-and both FB/IG made it to spot 3-so tune in next week for 2nd place-Twitter! I will save the best for last!
