The Price of Success

"There's no such thing as a Free lunch"

This is a phrase many of us have heard before,  and yet do any of us know what it really means? I think of this often when I think of "The Price of Success". Why would one think about it? I know for me, I married an investor and workaholic who has made me rethink how I do everything. But for others, we are constantly pressured or moved or saddened by our personal levels of success. If you ask most people, they want to or think in some ways they are successful. My husband's response to anyone that wants to be successful is, are you willing to pay the price? I at first thought I knew what he meant. I have come to realize though, since reviewing 2018 versus 2017, and planning for 2019 - that I have come to find a deeper meaning to that question.

The Price of Success is:

1. Weekends are days, days not for recreation-but just days. They can be days to relax or days to work it like there is no such thing as Sunday.

2. Limits are a mental construct. If you think you can't, try doing it (just for shifts and googles) and see how much farther you went before you reached your actual limit. Limits are a thing, but they can be manipulated.

3. Love and Family are the best motivators. The phase of your life before your family, you should be working, and only living life up some of the time. The best parts of life are to come and are more enjoyable when you budget and earn and save.

4. You earn in life and business, what you deserve. You can not work a little bit of the time and wonder why you are not making as much money as you feel like "you should be paid" or may need. If you need the money, you have to do the actions to make it happen. Does that mean not sleeping in on an occasional Sunday? Yes.

5. Diet and Exercise are super important, especially when you feel you don't have time. It is important to make time for you, and in that time feed and stretch your legs. You have way more bills and less capacity to pay them when you don't take care of yourself and you let yourself get bad. It's like a lawn, why would you rent a house out and not pay for lawn maintenance? Maintenance is cheaper than replacement.

6. Stolen moments of silence and enjoyment are so much more valuable. If you enjoy seeing your friends, and see your friends you should still do, but find yourself busy. Make that time happen, and don't waste it with negativity. Enjoy it and realize its true treasure worth more.

7. The Price of success...is realizing this is your life, living it as your life, and realizing in time you will enjoy it or the fruits of it-until then have some patience.

I know this one is a little bit personal, but it all comes to a point. I would hope that with the new year you take the opportunity to make it a year in the life worth living! Join me next week as I talk about some of the cool new things I did last year and some of my insights about them.
