Why & How to use Twitter
Tweet Tweet! When I was a kid, this was what Tweety Bird said on the TV as part of our cartoons. More so anymore you wonder what was the last thought your favorite Celebrity or Business when you hear Tweet. Yes we are talking about Twitter. Most of us know what Twitter is, most of us even use it. The two questions we discuss here are...Why use Twitter and How to use it effectively.
Why use Twitter?
- Lists
You can make lists or be added to them and more so focus your audience, especially if your content shows your strengths as an entity.
-Character Limit Posts
Even though you do not have as many freedoms with your posts, it actually makes it simpler to see your post and if it is well written with a visual you will get a good click through rate.
-Analytics
You do not have to have a business page version of your account to see the analytics on any one post or your page as whole, which helps show what works and what does not.
-Pictues/Videos/GIF's
It is the easier platform to post moving videos or GIF's that make posts more engaging.
-Layout
The overall layout of twitter is good and per any post you have all the options (Comment, Retweet, Like, DM) right there for you to respond to it.
Think of Twitter not as your main source, but if Marketing was a body, Twitter would be your arm. Sure you could live without your arm but isn't it better to use both arms?
How to use Twitter effectively:
-If you post on another social site, copy/paste/adjust the content to Twitter too
You have different people on Twitter and should be trying to reach everyone you can with your content, especially when posting is a free tool! You can boost it but in order to boost it you have to post it!
-Don't forget the #Hashtags
Hashtags are how the people who are not directly following you will find your message, like if you post something about #HealingStones, someone who follows that on their own will find you and maybe even follow you!
-Check Your Numbers Monthly
To see if your page has been doing better or worse than the month before, see what is working, and in conjunction with your other marketing goal...has it been working? You would be surprised how helpful Twitter is to SEO.
-Message Your Followers
It is an greatly overlooked way to connect, when someone follows you message them thanking them for the follow and introduce yourself! I know I personally remember all of the people who followed me and messaged me vs not remembering all of the people who just followed me.
-Post at least one time a day when possible
Try to post daily to keep a current and updated look to your profile as well as posting at the better times for the day you are posting to get the most people.
