Why & How to use Instagram

Let me just start by saying, Instagram is one of my favorite social media platforms. Kudos to Facebook for bringing it into the family. I have used Instagram personally and professionally for quite a while now and would deem it the "Leg" of the Marketing Persona. If you use Facebook, you need to be using Instagram linked to it, and I will tell you why:

Why Should I Use Instagram? 
-Good Linkage and Analytics
When you link a business page to your Instagram account, you get to put more info on your profile and get full access to who/what/where/when your people are viewing your content. It helps better time place all your other content.

-Layout
Profile information is layed out well and it really utilizes the best version of the scrolling social media with options to like or comment.

-Stories
Like most other platforms, you can go live on it, and it is much more seamless than the Facebook live and Twitter live. It in fact borrows a bit from snapchat in the way you can view all your stories at once.

-Instagram isn't the only site that picks up your content
There are lots of other sites, like other versions of Instagram without being such, that pick up on the feed of your account and translate to other sites. Once you put it out there, who knows where it will fly to!

-Connect with your people
I often find that I will post the same thing to my Facebook and my Instagram, and yet it is on Instagram that people will actually comment. Talk to them! It has been said it takes 8 touches to turn a stranger into a possible consumer, getting them to comment is at least 2-3 touches!

Now, all personal bias aside, that is a pretty perk filled social media outlet! With most of its features free! 

How Should I Use Instagram? 
- Link Your Business Account to your IG
To get the most out of your account and its activity, you need to link your Instagram to your Facebook business page, but not to the extent that whenever you post something it reposts to your Facebook. Post it separately for the most content reach.

- Fill out your profile
On a linked profile you can have: Name, Title/Category, Description, Website, Location. Your website is a live link, change it as needed and link an active site to it! You can also upload your email and phone number so those options are just a click away. A full profile is a ready profile once your content snags them!

-Check your numbers monthly
Look monthly (or weekly if you prefer) and see who is looking at your content and when. Do you know your target customer? You can see Age, Gender, Location, and Time of viewing. Define who you are looking for in a customer and see if you are getting their attention.

-Post as often as you post to other social media sites
If you have something to post onto Facebook, post it to Instagram too. While some of the people who follow you on Facebook follow you on IG, you can often get more followers on IG than FB.

-Follow those who follow you
You want to follow those that follow you. That shows support for their account like they are supporting yours and will fill your follower list with authentic leads. Often times there are people who follow you to get the follow then unfollow you. Get many and authentic leads!

-Message Your Followers
This makes you memorable and to a certain degree, it is easy to assume if they like/comment/follow, they wouldn't mind a message from you. You can do it when they follow you, or monthly!
