Holiday Traveling Tips: Animal and Kids

This week we are finishing out our Traveling Tips blogs with Kids and Pets! Let's delve right in!

Traveling With Kids,

Be sure to take your time, as kids will need to stop more and may need more attention while you are driving along the road. Pack some small toys to keep them busy, as many kids are too young to appreciate the view is the excitement of a road trip. Pack a change of clothes, in case any spills or accidents happen. Have a diaper bag ready so when you stop to use the restroom for you and baby, all your stuff is ready to go. Remind your kids not to talk to strangers, and more importantly keep them with you or someone you trust.

Traveling with Pets,

You can't forget Fido at home! Or just don't want to pay for a sitter, I honestly understand both arguments. Make sure Fido has a tag or identification. If you have a carrier, be sure a phone number and photo of the pet are attached to it. Keep your pet's vaccinations up to date at your local vet. Secure the animal safely in the car via a carrier and special seatbelt connected to its harness. Should you be flying with your vet, make sure they have enough room to move during the flight. Reduce the time the pet is flying by flying direct if possible. If you happen to be driving, stop frequently to let the animal relieve itself.

I honestly had a lot of fun delving into some of the more personal aspects of the holidays, and honestly it is better to be safe than to be sorry, especially when dealing with loved ones such as kids and furbabies! Join me next week for some How To's!
