Facebook: Posts

HAPPY 100TH BLOG!

Hello! This month will be all about Facebook! I know most of us are on it, like all the time, and you may wonder, what is there to know? Facebook for me has always been a great tool for business, and one I would never ever pay for. May seem odd, but if you know how to use a multi-faceted tool for free effectively-then you only need to pay for it for specific campaigns where you may have the budget for it. This is the first post of four and we will be focusing on Posts.

Posts:

Personal Page/Feed:
Creating A Post is the first option you see when looking at one's feed. You would see:
Photo/Video
Tag Friends
Feeling/Activity

Sums up pretty well why someone would be using this from a Personal point of view, to see how your friends are feeling and where they are eating. Once you click on "Create A Post" you see a "..." for the rest of your options to add to your post, as well as where you post can go:
News Feed - This will make the post go into yours and your friends News Fed
Your Story - This will make your post go into your and your friends Story section

Now, please note that all of your posts can go on to your News Feed, but not all posts can go onto your Story. As soon as your post becomes too long the Story option becomes faded. Here you can also change who sees it: Friends, Family, CoWorkers, etc. If you make custom lists for this you can tailor your posts. Once you decide who sees the post, let's get to writing it. Your post is half Text and half background. Backgrounds are available in the left side of the post box, in between your photo and photo/video.

Scenario A: Now, let's say this is too simple-this post needs more! What else can we do? With the choice to not use a photo/video, you have all options available.

Poll: Turn your post into a question with two responses (See future blogs for more info)
Watch Party: Watch, talk and react to the same videos at the same time during a watch party.
List: Create a list, good for recipes or places.
Play With Friends: Play games on Facebook with your friends.
GIF: Using clips from other media as a response in your post.
Ask for Recommendations: Tag your city and ask in your post for the kind of rec.
Answer a Question: Answer questions custom or that others have asked to get to know people.

Scenario B: Now using this option would remove your background. As well as some of the options with your post.

Photo/Video: Post a photo or Video from your device
Feeling/Activity: How are you feeling and What are you doing?
Check In: You are where? No Way!
Live Video: Look how cool that concert your at is!
Tag Friend: Because no one goes to that concert alone!
Sticker: Similar to GIF, and sits above your text.
Tag Event: You know that concert will let you check in on FB.
Support Non Profit: This is a growing trend for Facebook posts on Birthdays.

Business Page:
You must first access your personal page before you can access your Business Page. A big difference as well between Personal and Business is that you can Boost and Publish/Schedule your posts. Once you get there and start your post you have similar yet different options:

Write Note: Post a Photo, Title, and Content-almost like a Blog.
Tag Product: if you have a specific service or product the post will be speaking about.
Advertise Your Business: Promote your page via 6 options (See future blogs for more info)
Add Directions: Shares your address with a Get Directions button.
Get Calls: Shares your phone number with a Call Now button.
Get Shop Visits: Shares your website with a Shop Now button.
Add a Milestone: Add to your timeline a major event in your business, like first dollar.
Get Messages: Shares your messenger tag with a Send Message button.
Start a Q & A: Post a question and introduction, add a photo and post.

One of the most successful tools for your business is going to be your SEO, and social media posts are a simple and effective way to help Google to trust you and rank you appropriately without breaking the bank. Join me next week as I go into the Facebook Marketplace.
