Facebook: Messenger

Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger! This week we are going to be talking about Facebook Messenger. Out of all the topics I have covered within Facebook, Messenger is the only part that is integrated to the desktop and it's own app. Interesting huh? And yet, even as I am writing this blog-this may be the shortest out of all the Facebook oriented blogs for February. With that, let's jump in.

Messenger:

Mobile vs Desktop

I can definitely note that the Mobile has gone through a look redo. It is very simplified. But both options offer the same choices. A catch is that on mobile, you have to use the app. On Desktop, you can use the major section to the left hand side of the News Feed Screen, or it can pop up in the right hand corner in the "Chat" section.

Personal vs Business

Personal:

In the world of Facebook, you have to have a personal account to use places like the Marketplace or to manage a Business Page. In my screenshot you can see me posting a rental on the marketplace, where they have to interact with me as a person-as the "Seller". It is for this reason, that if you plan to use Facebook in any sort of business way-keep your profile clean. From the chat, any one I am messaging can see my photo,profile-the whole nine yards (depending on Privacy Settings). If a friend is messaging you, they can see when you are on. If a Buyer is messaging you, I highly recommend responding promptly. Your "Time To Respond" is something Facebook will post and keep track of.

Once you have either been messaged, or have messaged someone- you can do the following things:
- Use the camera to take/send a photo (with lots of fun filters to choose from to add to your photo)
- Send an existing Photo/Video
- Send Money (yes I mean real money)
- Type a Message with an Emoji

But wait there's more! Press the "..." and you can also do:
- Send a voice message
- Send your location
- Play games with friends
- Set up a reminder
- Send a saved video or post from Facebook
- Send a GIF

Business:

With Business Messenger, or someone responding to your business in Messenger- you have more things you can set up or have be sent automatically once a message is received to your business. The things you can set up is:

Responses to Common Questions:
Contact Information
Location

Respond to Feedback:
Page Recommended
Page Not Recommended

Communicate About Jobs:
Application Received

Join me next week as we stay in the world of Social Media, but we compare Facebook and Twitter for Polls!
