Branding and You!
Branding and You!
One of my favorite puzzles is Branding, everyone has an
unique way they like to do it and every company is different, for others it is
a mystery we get to solve together! Branding if you had to define it is mostly:
Who are you? What do you do? Who knows about you? Why should
someone who does not know you care about you?
Half of the battle is defining your brand, the other half is
using Repetition and Exposure to establish it. Most of us remember the top 3
brands in any one category, let’s get you in the top three!
But what is in a Brand?
- The name of your brand is as important as what your brand
stands for, here are some classic ideals to consider when thinking of the name
of your brand:
-
Alliteration: Same Letters Used (Example: Bed Bath and Beyond)
-Neologism:
Respelling Existing Word (Example: Google)
-
Imagery: Visual Imagery (Example: Blue Bunny)
- Rhyme:
Rhyming Words (Example: Massage Garage)
- Haplology:
3 Word Phrase (Example: In – N – Out)
- Using
a Name: Any Name/s (Example: McDonalds)
-
Describing Product: The name is the service (Example: U-Haul)
-
Personal: Tying something you love to the title (Example: Moxi Zombi Marketing)
- The second part is what does your brand do? What does it
stand for? After this, Design is the part where we really get to have some fun!
What kind of Marketing can help me brand?
- Stationary: Headers and Footers on top of every company
page and ad printed
- Flyer: Advertisements solely about you or sponsored by you
- Voicemail Greeting: Having your positive attitude and
demeanor leave them warm even if you don’t answer the phone
- Calls: Answer each call with the company first and you
second
- Business Cards: that little piece of you that will always
stay with them, make it effective
- Signs: Whether you are sponsoring an event or getting people
to come to one, show your logo and name big and proud!
- Clothes: having a take home piece of marketing that makes all
the wearers friends jelly!
- Automotive Ads: It practically drives itself with you!
But there is so much more we can do and need to do, why you
may ask?
Let me show you some statistics, maybe you can relate? Have you ever wondered how much information we retain between everything we are told, and see, and think?
- Audio Retention of Total Information Told=5%
- Visual Retention of Total Information Told=10%
- Audio+Visual Retention of Total Information Told=20%
-Audio+Visual+Written Retention of Total Information Told=30%
-Discussion Retention of Total Information Told=50%
- Proactive Doing Retention of Total Information Told=75%
-Teach+Use Retention of Total Information Told=90%
